the books

I think the Kindle is kind of stupid. I love carrying a book around (even if it's awkward and heavy) and flipping pages and using funny slips of paper for bookmarks that you find years later when you lend the book out. Whatever. This commercial is super cute and reminds me of Kate Spade.

autumn 2009

I'm going back to school in 8 days and even though it will still be sweaty and frizzy when classes begin, I'm really excited for autumn and wearing corduroy and knee high brown leather boots (granted I ever find any I like). I feel like when I'm at school, my options are really limited when I need to buy new clothes unless I want something in orange and blue so I've already been trying to look for some nice little earth tone mini dresses and stock up on thick tights so I won't even have to think about it when that 65 degree weather hits. (I can't wait). I am so so happy to look at Dear Creatures fall collection based on Girl Scouts, tee pees and science experiments. The midwest gets so pretty in the fall and these dresses and tops would look perfect on the quad.

Porter & Hollister Hovey

I came across this article today on NYTimes.com about two sisters in Williamsburg who have decorated their loft in the most spectacular way. Not only do sisters Porter and Hollister have the coolest names, they have the neatest collection of Edwardian and Victorian relics that evoke images of hunting lodges and little old apothecary shops. Hollister has her own blog where she documents some of the sisters' adventures and other antique goodness.

Not only do they have a wonderfully inspiring home, the Hovey sisters have a seriously awesome wardrobe (I wonder if they share!) Porter's wardrobe and haircut are so perfect and the sisters document their adventures like visits to Yale or fishing in Maryland. If only my sister and I had more similar interests!

round frames

I bought a pair of round glasses recently, hoping I might look cute and French like Anna Karina. Maybe it's because I grew out my bangs for the summer, but I think I just look like Harry Potter. Should I draw a lightning bolt on my forehead or should I get my prescription put in them? Dilemma of the summer.

bee girls

The second season of Pushing Daisies came out on DVD this week and I've been watching it with my mom and sister. One of the episodes is about bees and honey and even though I'm terrified of bees, I think they're kind of pretty. Naturally, they've been occupying my mind and I've been eating toast and honey for breakfast and looking for yellow striped dresses on etsy.
